Fancy a Working Lunch with Me at Grand Designs?

Grand Designs Live is at the NEC 11th – 14th October 2018

Whoever cooked up the name for TV show Grand Designs when it first aired in 1999 (that’s right almost 20 years) either had no idea or EVERY idea that the concept of ‘grand’ went far beyond featuring “unusual and often elaborate architectural homebuilding projects.”

Designing and building one’s own house is so much more than that…

Ask anyone embarking on a self-build project, whether their budget is £50K or £500K, they will tell you that the effort, the creativity, the challenges and the ups and downs that they’ve had to endure are all on a GRAND scale.

All self-build projects are grand in the minds of those leading them for the simple reason that they encompass everything from architecture, project management, organising the finance, planning permission and the rest.

I’m often asked for advice on where to start, what’s the best order of tasks or what are the key things to avoid?

These, and a whole bunch of other questions, whatever comes to mind, I’ll be answering at the lunchtime Q&A session of Grand Designs Liveon 14thOctober at Birmingham NEC. The Q&A ‘Top Tips For Planning Your Own Grand Design’ at 1pm will explore all aspects of self-building and I encourage you to find me afterwards if you want to explore further or feel something wasn’t quite covered for your particular situation!

A great place to start is our checklist on self-building (3 min read) – https://www.prideroad.co.uk/how-to-check-if-a-plot-is-suitable-for-a-self-build/

We also have a few spare slots for a Pride Road consultation on the day – just find us at the Ask An Expert stand on Sunday 14th.

And any architects who are considering opening their own practice can talk to us at the Grand Designs Show about Pride Road’s unique architectural franchise model, which removes some of the unknowns of striking out on your own!

Catch you there!
